Welcome to the August walk from Auchavan to Monega hill, taking in three munros, Glas Maol, Cairn of Claise and Carn an Tuirc.

Walk distance 19km (12 miles). Total ascent 945m. Walk time 5.5 hours plus stops.  OS map LR #43.

Coach leaves at 07:00 from the corner of Midstocket Road and Gordondale Road.

This walk starts at the end of the Glen Isla road at Auchavan (~375m) and heads north along a landrover track, passing Tulchan Lodge on the left, continues up the track along the side of River Isla, before branching left onto a path and climbing steeply to Monega Hill (908m).  Continue on the path with detours to Little Glas Maol (973m), Glas Maol (highest point of the day at 1068m, and Trig Point); head NNE to Cairn of Claise (1064m), then north and west to Carn an Tuirc (1019m), before dropping north west off the top to pick up the path.  Walk out along this path to the car park (~500m) about 3km north of the Glenshee Ski Centre on the A93 where the bus will be waiting. 

If there is time, a short refreshment stop will be taken in Braemar.
