Title
December Walk and Christmas Meal in Ballater
Details

Walk host: Jaqui Phillips 07989155672

OS  Map 44 - see map below for the route.

Coach leaves at 08:00 from the corner of Midstocket Road and Gordondale Road

Expected time back in Aberdeen: 5.30pm

The cost for the day is £45 which includes the coach, meal and some wine.

Walk time 8 miles, 4 hours with stops, ascent 400m.

The walk starts at Milton of Tullich on the north bank of the river Dee. From here we walk east along the Deeside Way and cross the Cambus O May bridge, then walk west back along the river bank.  We cross the A93 road at Glascorrie and head up the well made paths to Pannanich Hill summit. From here we descend past House of Glenmuick to Ballater Golf Club for our meal. This walk is around 8 miles and has 430m of ascent.

Those wishing a shorter version can miss out Pannanich Hill altogether and walk back to Ballater along the river bank. This alternative route can be seen below. Note that this walk is quite short, only 6 miles or so and has very little ascent..

You can leave a change of clothing on the coach as it will remain at the golf club all day.  Dress code for the golf club is smart casual.  We have use of the showers in the members' changing rooms, but please bring a towel and toiletries.

Drinks can be purchased in the lounge area and the beautiful views enjoyed, prior to the 3 course meal, which will be served at 2pm to allow plenty time for food and fun.  The menu is printed below.  Please send your choices to postmaster@stockets.org.uk including any allergies, so we can inform the catering staff.

Each year we have a fancy dress theme, which this year is 'Woodstock'.  Interpret as you see fit, it can we as outrageous or subtle as you wish!
We will also have our very popular raffle for which you are invited to bring along any items - the more the merrier.  Proceeds from the raffle will be split between Aberdeen Mountain Rescue and Braemar Mountain Rescue.  Raffle items can also be left on the coach during the day.
